چکیده

Cardio-vascular diseases are the major cause of mortality, with ischemic cardiac disease as the major form, followed by stroke. Each of these diseases accounts for some 15 million deaths per year, representing 30% of the total number of death. The highest mortality is registered in the countries of former USSR and those of Eastern Europe. France and Japan had the lowest rate of mortality by ischemic heart disease. This study is based on a retrospective analysis of the medical information provided by RO-STEMI database.

C-REACTIVE PROTEIN RESPONSE IN ANGINA PECTORIS

C-reactive protein (CRP) response was studied in 44 patients with acute angina pectoris admitted to the coronary care unit. 71 % of patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI)had positive CRP test while 73% of patients presumed to have unstable angina pectoris had negative CRP test. This test can be helpful in differentiating between acute MI and unstable angina pectoris.

Risk Stratification and Invasive Strategy in NSTE-ACS

Under the heading of acute coronary syndrome (ACS), we include myocardial infarction with ST segment elevation (STEMI), myocardial infarction without ST segment elevation (NSTEMI) and unstable angina (UA). Given the similar pathophysiological mechanisms, clinical manifestations, diagnostic and therapeutic algorithm UA and NSTEMI are sorted into a common group of ACS without ST segment elevation...

Non St Elevation Acute Coronary Syndrome: Contemporary Management Strategies

The term, acute coronary syndrome (ACS), describes a spectrum of clinical conditions ranging from ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) to non–ST-segment elevation MI (N–STEMI) and unstable angina (UA) (Fig. 119.1) (1). These manifestations of acute myocardial ischemia may revert to the presymptomatic state or evolve into a non-Q wave (also termed nontransmural) MI or to Q wave (or...

Coronary artery spasm (CAS) simulating inferior ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).

Coronary arteries vasospasm (CAS) is commonly seen in invasive cardiology laboratory during diagnostic catheterization or coronary intervention. Though the incidence of Printzmetal angina is uncommon, coronary vasospasm resulting in acute myocardial infarct is rare, especially if there is no significant atherosclerotic plaque within the coronary vasculature.
